The Hall Committee of Management is very happy to announce the success of several grant applications to Mitchell Shire Council. We have received funding to purchase a BBQ which means we no longer have to borrow one for each function we hold. There is also funding for a small monthly Newsletter called Staying Connected which aims to help people stay in touch with each other by sharing news and information. We will be looking for your contributions - births, marriages, planning approvals, and so on. The Newsletter will be distributed monthly with Whats News to local residents and emailed or posted to people who have been dislocated.
For the first time we will be able to hold an Australia Day Breakfast in 2010 so make sure you put 26 January, 2010 in your diary.
Lastly, we have received funds to paint a mural on the water tank depicting scenes relevant to the history and development of the Upper Plenty area. Local resident, Kris Faltis will be painting this mural. A second part of this project involves the students at Upper Plenty Primary School who will be designing and painting a mural on the toilet block with the theme of Renewal - Regrowth.
We are clearly going to be very busy! Needless to say we are profoundly grateful to the Mitchell Shire Council for giving us these opportunities to make our community a better place to live.
The evening with Beltane was very enjoyable and we hope to have them perform again next year. Thanks to David Meek and Laurie & Karen Day at Wallan Motorcycles & Mowers for their very generous donations of raffle prizes. The raffle was won by Stephen & Margaret Patton and Margaret & Chris from Sticks'n'Stones.
